Tara Conlan

Tara has been writing about media for The Guardian since 2005 and was previously the Daily Mail’s TV Editor. She has also written for the Financial Times, The Times, Sunday Times, The Observer, Radio Times, The Independent, British Journalism Review, The Journalist, Grazia and the Evening Standard and Daily Mail city desks. She also writes regularly for the Royal Television Society’s magazine Television, Indielab’s The Indie Hustle and has appeared on Radio 4’s The Media Show, The Media Club, the Today programme, BBC News, ITV’s News at Ten and LBC. Tara began in journalism on Londoner’s Diary and The Stage and also worked on Broadcast magazine - which she still contributes to. Tara has been a consultant for industry bodies Newsworks and Screenskills, hosted sessions for the Edinburgh International Television Festival and BAFTA and is an RTS Awards juror and Broadcasting Press Guild executive committee member, as well as an adviser to a number of media/tech start-ups. She contributed to the book Is the BBC in Crisis? and The BBC: Life After the Licence Fee? and is working on her own book about the industry.
